We are able to offer trips to our members for much cheaper than it would cost to go themselves, or with another club. This is partly because of our access to buses and a club grant through the Sports Union, but also our access to Mountaineering Scotland huts, and bulk booking making things cheaper. We make sure to run our trips as cheaply as we possibly can to ensure all of our members can afford to come.

Our climbing discounts are still TBC this year, but we usually have an entry discount at both Avertical World and Bloc 10.

One of our best assets as a club is our gear store, from which you can borrow (almost) any equipment you might need for a day on the hills. Including rucksacks, waterproofs, stoves, tents, climbing gear and much more!

Winter Skills course, Glenmore Lodge 2025

Student SMART weekend - An all abilities weekend where you get to choose what you learn, from basic navigation to rock climbing, and everything in between.

Student Winter Skills - A winter weekend perfect for anyone with hillwalking experience who wants to take it to the next level. Including learning how to use an ice axe, put on crampons, and spot avalanches, this course will give you the skills to walk in winter with confidence.

Student Ice Climbing - A more advanced course for those wanting to make the jump in to ice climbing. This course requires a bit more background experience so we normally only send 2 people.

On top of these courses, we are joined twice a year on our trips by an instructor from St John's Mountaineering Scotland, who take groups out to learn whatever skills they want - and the best bit - for completely free!

Nalgene are one of the most reputable high quality bottle brands out there, if you don't believe me then take a look.

They are multi functional and are perfect for the outdoors as they are super sturdy and retain heat well so can be used as a hot water bottle (amongst other things)

At £13 these are significantly below retail price, and on top of that have our super cool logo on them.

Slaphappy Climbing are a small climbing brand based in the Lake District in England, who's chalkbags are perfect for any roped climbing or bouldering. This special edition was batch produced just for Rucksack.

These are also significantly below the normal retail price at just £15

Our custom countour designed buff will keep the wind off your face in all weather, all throughout the year. Buffs can be worn in a multitude of different ways, so are a must have for the outdoors. Not to mention they can also be used to take a compass bearing in place of a map (not advised)

These go for £5, which isn't bad given it's essentially 20 hats in one.
